Faculties share utility bills with no way to see who uses what, so there is no incentive to save and sustainability commitments cannot be reported per building.

MILESGO gateways collect data from electricity meters, water meters, BTU / heat meters, M-Bus meters over Modbus RTU / M-Bus / LoRaWAN, and deliver it to the energy management system, a cloud platform (MQTT), large-screen dashboards (HDMI) as MQTT / BACnet/IP. Field equipment keeps its own protocol and control logic; integration is done by configuration and point mapping, not custom code.

Implementation checklist for the project manager
- Fix a site / asset naming convention before the first site so data from all sites can be compared.
- Record CT ratios, meter IDs and multipliers in the point table; wrong multipliers are the usual cause of billing errors.
- Agree KPI definitions (for example OEE components or kWh per unit) with operations before building dashboards.
- Agree emission factors and reporting boundaries with the sustainability team; the platform applies the factors you provide.
- Roll out in phases: pilot one site or area, confirm data quality, then replicate.
- List dashboard users and roles, and configure user permissions accordingly.

Architettura del sistema
Field layer: electricity meters, water meters, BTU / heat meters, M-Bus meters, connected over Modbus RTU / M-Bus / LoRaWAN. Edge and integration layer: MILESGO protocol gateways and edge controllers, mounted on DIN rail in existing panels, polling each device, time-stamping values and buffering them locally. Upper layer: the energy management system, a cloud platform (MQTT), large-screen dashboards (HDMI), which receives the data as MQTT / BACnet/IP. Remote access for maintenance runs over VPN rather than open internet ports.

Site survey and point list

Build the gateway configuration off site, simulate it and test against the signed point table.
