MILESGO gateways collect data from PLCs, machine HMIs and CNC controllers, variable frequency drives (VFD) over S7 / Modbus TCP / EtherNet/IP / Modbus RTU, and deliver it to the plant PLC (S7 / PROFINET / EtherNet/IP), SCADA, MES as S7 / PROFINET / EtherNet/IP / OPC UA. Field equipment keeps its own protocol and control logic; integration is done by configuration and point mapping, not custom code.

Implementation checklist for the project manager
- Do not modify validated PLC programs; read existing data areas or add gateway-side mapping instead.
- Collect register maps and protocol documents from every equipment vendor early; a missing map is the most common delay.
- Freeze the point list and protocol mapping with the client before ordering hardware.
- Build and simulate the configuration off site (FAT) before installation to shorten time on site.
- Issue an IP address plan and VLAN / firewall rules with the client’s IT team before installation.
- Keep OT networks segregated and use VPN for remote access instead of opening ports to the internet.
- Hand over configuration backups, point table, IP plan and as-built drawings, with a short operator training.

Field layer: PLCs, machine HMIs and CNC controllers, variable frequency drives (VFD), connected over S7 / Modbus TCP / EtherNet/IP / Modbus RTU. Edge and integration layer: MILESGO protocol gateways and edge controllers, mounted on DIN rail in existing panels, polling each device, time-stamping values and buffering them locally. Upper layer: the plant PLC (S7 / PROFINET / EtherNet/IP), SCADA, MES, which receives the data as S7 / PROFINET / EtherNet/IP / OPC UA. Remote access for maintenance runs over VPN rather than open internet ports.
